First decay study of the very neutron - rich isotope 93 Br

چکیده
The decay of the mass-separated, very neutron-rich isotope 93 Br has been studied by γ-spectroscopy. A level scheme of its daughter 93 Kr has been constructed. Level energies, γ-ray branching ratios and multipolarities suggest spins and parities which are in accord with a smooth systematics of the N = 57 isotones for Z ≤ 40, suggesting the N = 56 subshell closure still to be effective in Kr isotopes. So far, there is no indication of a progressive onset of deformation in neutron-rich Kr isotopes.

Precise atomic masses of neutron - rich Br and Rb nuclei close to the r - process path
The Penning trap mass spectrometer JYFLTRAP, coupled to the Ion-Guide Isotope Separator On-Line (IGISOL) facility at Jyväskylä, was employed to measure the atomic masses of neutron-rich 85−92 Br and 94−97 Rb isotopes with a typical accuracy less than 10 keV. Discrepancies with the older data are discussed. Comparison to different mass models is presented. Details of nuclear structure, shell and...
متن کاملEnhanced γ-Ray Emission from Neutron Unbound States Populated in β Decay.
Total absorption spectroscopy is used to investigate the β-decay intensity to states above the neutron separation energy followed by γ-ray emission in (87,88)Br and (94)Rb. Accurate results are obtained thanks to a careful control of systematic errors. An unexpectedly large γ intensity is observed in all three cases extending well beyond the excitation energy region where neutron penetration is...
متن کاملModes of decay in neutron-rich nuclei
We calculate the ground, first intrinsic excited states and density distribution for neutron-rich thorium and uranium isotopes, within the framework of relativistic mean field(RMF) approach using axially deformed basis. The total nucleon densities are calculated, from which the cluster-structures inside the parent nuclei are determined. The possible modes of decay, like α-decay and β -decay are...
متن کاملIsotopes Tell Sun’s Origin and Operation
Modern versions of Aston’s mass spectrometer enable measurements of two quantities – isotope abundances and masses – that tell the Sun’s origin and operation. Isotope analyses of meteorites, the Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, the solar wind, and solar flares over the past 45 years indicate that fresh, poorly-mixed, supernova debris formed the solar system. The iron-rich Sun formed on the collapsed...
متن کاملIdentical transitions in the strongly deformed 99 Sr and 100
Neutron-rich isotopes with N>60 and A.100 are characterized by strong axial deformation. Strontium isotopes are the most deformed nuclei known so far in this region. Quadrupole deformations of b.0.4 have been deduced for Sr, Sr, and Sr from the lifetimes of the first excited states and from mean-square radii measured by collinear laser spectroscopy @1–5#. According to these results, ground-stat...
